Creamy Kumquat Smoothie

8 kumquats (halved & deseeded)

1/3 cup mango

1・1/4 cups (300 ml) almond milk

3 dates (pitted)

2 tsp chia seeds

¼ – ½ tsp cinnamon

¼ – ½ tsp turmeric

a pinch of freshly grated black pepper

1/2 cup crushed ice (3 ice cubes)

1- In a high-speed blender combine all essential ingredients.

2- Blend for about 1 minute on high speed.

3- Top up with any optional ingredients of your choice.

4- Continue to blend until you’ve reached your desired consistency.

5- Taste & adjust the seasoning if required.

6- Serve or store in a glass bottle with a lid in your fridge

This smoothie lasts up to 3 days in the fridge. My food-prep tip: double the amount & store one set of fruit in a mason jar + one set of spices + milk in another jar for hassle-free mornings.

I love kumquats, because you can simply munch the whole fruit – yes – with the skin! The skin tastes sweet and a bit citrusy and the inside is really sour. You can even eat the seed, they contain omega-3 fats. Kumquats are a really good source of vitamin c.
